How the Trax2 “Tag-Along China” will work…

Since TJ will be in China from 28 Sep to 10 Dec 2016 and if you would like to Tag-Along then you will need to get to one of the Tag-along Connection place/points on that date (Tagalongers can connect or end their tag-along on any of the connection/points or dates).
10 Oct 2016 – Shanghai
17 Oct 2016 – Beijing
24 Oct 2016 – Xian,
27 Oct 2016 – Chengdu,
1 Nov 2016 – Lijiang YN,
8 Nov 2016 – Dali YN,
16 Nov 2016 – Kunming
20 Nov 2016 – Guilin/Yangshuo,
29 Nov 2016 – Guangzhou,
6 Dec 2016 – Hong Kong (The End)

One rule to rule them all:
Tag-along Leader costs will be shared amongst all tagalongers for all or parts of their tag-along legs.

Once in China Budget for:
US$100 day for meals/accommodation; US$100 for transport airfares/fast trains however where possible to keep cost down we will take over-night sleeper trains, public transport and if willing try out the long distance sleeper buses (which are the cheapest form of long distance travel within China).

International Airfares, Travel Insurance and Visas (China visa application):
All  Tagalongers will be responsible for their own International Airfares, Travel Insurance and Visas and if you don’t already have your own preferred booking site, I have made the task easy for you with the sites that I used to get a One-way ticket to Shanghai for only AU$385.00 – just click on the banners top right and below to start your search and comparisons.

Using these search/comparison sites I was able to secure,
6:00am to Singapore arr 9:05am – Jetstar Air (cost $156 – 15kg luggage)
10:10pm Singapore to Guangzhou arr 2:05am – Scoot Air (cost $120 – 20kg luggage)
8:30pm to Shanghai arr 11pm – Shanghai Air (cost $109 – + luggage)

An example of what you can search for could go like this: If you wanted to start your taga-along on the 1 Nov at the Lijiang YN connection point, you would then run a search for the best price to Hong Kong and than a flight Hong Kong to Lijiang YN arriving 1 Nov 2016.

For China legs CTrip has the best prices with Cheapflights and Zuji better on other routes.

**So all you need to do is get your airfare, visa and travel insurance and leave the rest to Tj once you are in China**

Visas:
A visa is required by all nationalities. A visa should be arranged in advance of travel.

Mobile Phones:
Mobile phones are quite popular in China and you will find high quality coverage. China has active roaming agreements with most of the service providers. As China uses the same GSM band as Australia and if you want cheaper data instead of high international roaming cost it would be better to purchase a local prepaid sim card to use in your own mobile. To call Australia – the international access code is 00, followed by the country code 61, then the local area code (omitting the first 0), then the number.
